What this app is
The Your Accent Coach app is a secure wrapper around the student practice portal at youraccentcoach.com. It is used by enrolled students and their coach. You sign in with the login your coach gave you; there is no public sign-up. The app displays and runs the same portal you can open in a web browser — nothing about your data changes by using the app instead of the website.
Who it is for
Your Accent Coach is a private, paid, one-to-one coaching service for adult professionals. The app is not directed to children under 13, and accounts are created only by the coach for enrolled students.
Information we handle
- Your account — the username (and, if you provided one, email) your coach set up, used only to sign you in and identify your portal.
- Voice recordings you make — when you tap a record button and speak, the app captures that audio through your device microphone and uploads it to your portal so your coach can listen and give feedback. The microphone is used only while you are actively recording a practice take — never in the background, and never without you starting it.
- Your practice content — the texts, notes, and progress (streaks, practice minutes, recording counts) that make up your personalised portal.
- Basic technical data — standard web-server information such as IP address, device and browser type, and timestamps, used to keep the service running, secure, and reliable.
How we use it
- To deliver your coaching: showing your materials, storing your recordings, and letting your coach review them and reply.
- To track your own practice progress (streaks, minutes, history) inside your portal.
- To keep the service secure and working (e.g. signing you out after inactivity, preventing abuse).
What we do NOT do
- We do not sell your data.
- We do not show third-party advertising or use advertising trackers.
- We do not use your recordings for anything other than your own coaching.
Who can see your information
Your coach can see the content of your own portal, including your recordings — that is the point of the service. We do not share your personal data with other students or with outside companies, except the infrastructure providers who host the service on our behalf (a server host and Google Drive for encrypted backups), who process it only to run and protect the service.
Where it is stored and for how long
Your content is stored on Your Accent Coach's own servers, with regular encrypted backups. We keep your data for as long as you are an active student so your history and recordings remain available to you.
Deleting your data
You can ask us to delete your account and its data at any time by emailing andy@youraccentcoach.com. We will remove your account and personal content, keeping only what we are legally required to retain.
Security
Access is protected by your login, the connection is encrypted (HTTPS), and sessions sign out automatically after a period of inactivity.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update this page and the "last updated" date above.
