Privacy Policy for Chirpy (Chrome Extension)

Chirpy is a Chrome extension that helps users record, store, and share audio clips. This Privacy Policy explains what data Chirpy processes and how it is used.

1. Who We Are

Chirpy is operated by Andy's Accent School.

2. What Chirpy Does

Chirpy allows users to:

• Record audio clips in Chrome
• Save clips locally in the browser
• Upload clips to the user's Google Drive
• Create/copy share links
• Paste compact linked filenames into Google Docs

3. Data Chirpy Processes

Chirpy may process:

• Audio content you record
• Clip metadata (name, timestamp, duration, format, Drive file ID/link)
• Google OAuth token (to access Google Drive on your behalf)
• Clipboard content only when you use copy features

Chirpy does not sell personal data and does not use data for advertising.

4. How Data Is Used

Data is used only to provide extension features, including:

• Recording and playback
• Local storage and clip management
• Uploading files to Google Drive
• Generating and copying share links
• Supporting Docs link workflows

5. Storage and Retention

• Local browser storage (IndexedDB): stores recordings and metadata until you delete them.
• Google Drive: stores files you upload, under your Google account.
• Chirpy does not maintain a separate developer-owned cloud database for recordings.

6. Data Sharing

Chirpy shares data only with:

• Google APIs (for Drive upload and permissions)
• People you choose to share links with

If a file is shared as "anyone with the link," anyone with that link may access it.

7. Security

Chirpy uses HTTPS when communicating with Google services and follows Chrome extension security practices.

8. Your Choices

You can:

• Delete clips locally in the extension
• Delete uploaded files from Google Drive
• Revoke extension access from your Google account settings
• Uninstall the extension at any time

9. Children

Chirpy is not intended for children under 13.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy. The updated version will be posted at the same URL with a new effective date.

11. Google API Limited Use

Chirpy's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will comply with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
